วัดมหาโพธิอินเดีย เป็นวัดที่มีชื่อเสียงที่สุด ตั้งโดย อนาคาริกะ ธรรมปาละ ชาวศรีลังกา วัดมหาโพธิ ที่เป็นวัดศรีลังกา โดยอนาคาริกะ ธรรมปาละ มี 8 สาขา ได้แก่ ที่ เดลลี พุทธคยา สารนารถ กัลกัตต้า ( เป็นสำนักงานใหญ่ ) ลุมพินี เป็นต้น แม้พุทธคยา ก็ชื่อวัดมหาโพธิ เพราะ อนาคาริกะ ธรรมปาละ เป็นผู้นำในการต่อสู้ จนเกิด พรบ พุทธคยา ทำให้ชาวพุทธมีส่วนร่วมในการดูแล พุทธคยา สถานที่ตรัสรู้ของ พระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า

The Maha Bodhi Temple in India is one of the most renowned Buddhist temples, established by Anagarika Dharmapala, a devoted lay Buddhist reformer from Sri Lanka.
The Maha Bodhi Society, founded by Anagarika Dharmapala, operates eight branch temples, including those in Delhi, Bodh Gaya, Sarnath, Kolkata (the headquarters), Lumbini, and other sacred Buddhist sites.
Even the Bodh Gaya bears the same name, “Maha Bodhi,” because it was through Anagarika Dharmapala’s determined efforts that the Bodh Gaya Temple Act was enacted — allowing Buddhists to participate in the administration and preservation of Bodh Gaya, the hallowed site of the Lord Buddha’s Enlightenment.
