วัดนี้มีสาขา 78 แห่ง ในศรีลังกา สาขาในต่างชาติถึง37 แห่ง เฉพาะวัดนี้มีพระถึง 28 รูป
ก่อตั้งขึ้นเพื่อส่งเสริมการพัฒนา จิตวิญญาณของมนุษย์ตามคำสอนของพระพุทธเจ้า ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. 2542 (ค.ศ. 1999) ที่ประเทศศรีลังกา โดยพระเกริบัตโกดา ญาณานันทะ เถโร โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพียงอย่างเดียว คือ เพื่อเผยแผ่พระธรรมคำสอนดั้งเดิมของพระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้า
วัดมหาเมฆนาวา อยู่บนภูเขาสูงเทียมเมฆ จึงชื่อเมฆนาวา มีพระเจดีย์ ประดิษฐานพระพุทธเจ้า 7 พระองค์ รวมถึงยอดพระเจดีย์ก็มี 7 ยอดด้วย บรรยากาศลมเย็นสบาย เป็นวัดที่ทีมงานประทับใจ แม้จะนั่งรถทางคดเคี้ยวขึ้นเขา กว่า 2 ชั่วโมง กว่าจะถึงยอดเขา พระเจดีย์ 7 พระพุทธเจ้า

Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery was established to promote the spiritual development of human beings through the teachings of the Buddha.
It was founded in 1999 in Sri Lanka by Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero,
with the sole purpose of spreading the original teachings of the Buddha.
Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastery is located on a high mountain that touches the clouds, hence the name “Mahamevnawa,” meaning “Great Cloud Monastery.”
The monastery features a stupa enshrining statues of seven Buddhas, and even the top of the stupa has seven spires to symbolize them.
The atmosphere is peaceful and cool, with refreshing mountain breezes.
It is a temple that deeply impressed our team.
Even though it took over two hours of driving along winding mountain roads to reach the summit,
the sight of the stupa enshrining the Seven Buddhas at the top of the mountain made the entire journey truly worthwhile.
